IHLIA looks back on the year 1919
As the OBA celebrates 100 years, IHLIA also looks to the year 1919. In that year, the first film on homosexuality – Anders als die Andern – was released in Germany, excerpts of which can be seen in the exhibition.
This title inspired IHLIA in putting together a small exhibition on IHLIA Plaza. In 1919, the ordinary Amsterdammer on Keizersgracht could use a public library for the first time. In the exhibition you will find covers of LGBT themed books from that same year and information about the context in which these books were released.
