samenvatting: Shadow report describing the situation of lesbians, bisexual women, trans people and intersex people (LBTI) in Ukraine. There is no state monitoring of rights violations of LBTI people, and human rights reports often rely on anecdotal evidence and small-scale monitoring by civil society organizations. The report includes information about institutionalized discrimination of LBTI communities such as hate speech by governmental officials, current intrusive and discriminatory procedure for legal recognition of trans people and intersex people, and restrictions of freedom of movement. It also includes information on everyday rights violations that LBTI people face both from state and non-state institutions such as law enforcement agencies, medical and educational institutions, banks, civil registries, and employers. Stigma and discrimination against LBTI already present in the Ukrainian society is further reinforced and perpetuated by discriminatory legislative initiatives and policies of the Ukrainian Parliament and governmental bodies. Trans people are especially vulnerable to discrimination, harassment and violence due to the difficulty of obtaining IDs that reflect their gender identity and are frequently forced to waive their parental, marital and reproductive rights by the current state procedure of legal gender recognition.

samenvatting: Homophobie wird in Deutschland oft als ein Charakteristikum des Östlichen Europas und seiner Bewohner:innen ausgemacht. Wenn es darumgeht, die dortige Lage nicht nur in den Ländern des postsowjetischen Raums von Schwulen, Lesben und trans Personen einzuschätzen, so dient, wie fast immer, Russland als Maßstab der Dinge. Nicht wenige übertragen die hasschürende Politik der Kremls gegen Minderheiten, darunter auch gegen LGBTIQ+-Personen, auf seine Nachbarstaaten, zum Beispiel auch auf die Ukraine. Diese grobkörnige Blick von außen is irrig. Es ist mitnichten so, dass in der Ukraine, 1991 unabhängig geworden, ein eigenständiger Staat, nicht mehr Sowjetunion und auch nicht Teil Russlands, ähnliche Zustände wie in Russland vorherrschen, auch in Bezug auf die Rechte von LGBTIQ+. Während sich ihre Lage in Russland in den vergangenen Jahrzehnten zunehemend verschlechtert hat, erkämpfen sich ukrainische lGBTIQ+ immer mehr rechtliche und politische Freiheiten und auch gesellschaftliche Akzeptanz. Kurz nachdem die Ukraine ihre Unabhánigkeit vond der Sowjetunion erklärt hatte, legalisierte sie Homosexsualität als erste der ehemaligen Sowjetrepubliken.

Matthia Gemählich über verfiolgungen nach 1945 . Israelischen Soziologen Natan Sznaider. Monika Barz. Und viele anderen.

samenvatting: Although sapphic modernism is a phenomenon thoroughly examined in Western European cultures, the history of East European sapphic writings remains a relatively neglected area, both in global lesbian and queer studies and in local histories. This article is devoted to nineteenth-century Polish, Russian, and Ukrainian literature. It outlines the complicated emergence of local queer studies and draws attention to the position of women's writing within it. It also discusses the tools provided by intersectional, transnational approaches. Combined with the extensive knowledge of global lesbian studies, these methods allow for the exploration of local histories of queer women writing, particularly from the Russian Empire's territories. This article highlights intersections between same-sex desire?s literary expressibility and the writers' affiliation within the same imperial structure, which forced different strategies of sapphic expressions to emerge from this intersection. To illustrate those strategies, the article discusses examples provided by Narcyza Zmichowska, Lesya Ukrainka, and Lydia Zinovieva-Annibal.
