samenvatting: En este artículo me propongo analizar críticamente algunos de los argumentos frecuentes en los estudios sobre las homosexualidades de Argentina. Bajo este grupo de estudios, englobo especialmente a aquellas investigaciones que, durante las últimas dos décadas, produjeron conocimientos sobre la experiencia de la homosexualidad durante el siglo XX en Argentina y más específicamente sobre el periodo de la llamada historia reciente. Si bien aquí se retoman los trabajos de Meccia (2006) y Meccia(2011), Pecheny (2001) y Pecheny(2002), la revisión que propongo puede extenderse a otros trabajos que parten o dan por sentado muchos de las afirmaciones de estos autores. A partir de aquí, cuando utilice la expresión 'estudios sobre homosexualidades en Argentina' debe entendérsela a partir de este recorte. El principal consenso entre dichos/as autores/as sostiene que, en el periodo previo a la década de 1980 y 1990 (dependiendo del/la autor/a), las experiencias de los varones homosexuales estuvieron marcadas por la reclusión en la esfera privada, la represión y el silencio. Posteriormente, ciertos procesos sociales, políticos, económicos y culturales habrían puesto de lleno a la homosexualidad en el espacio público y, en consecuencia, se hizo visible (y posible) la vida de la mayoría de los homosexuales. A mi entender, en este argumentación resuenan algunas de las discusiones teóricas del campo del feminismo sobre la imbricación entre poder, agencia y género-sexualidad que se da en la distinción entre lo público y lo privado. En sintonía con ello, propongo retomar parcialmente estos debates en vista de que nos permitan problematizar los argumentos de los estudios aquí analizados. Al mismo tiempo, esta búsqueda en la producción del feminismo debe entenderse como una ponderación de índole teórico-política de los aportes de dicho campo sobre los temas de la subjetividad, la política y las experiencias de sujetos subalternos. En este sentido, ciertos/as autores/as feministas han señalado la poca o nula consideración que se han hecho de las categorías teórico-conceptuales del feminismo, especialmente de aquellos problemas - por ejemplo, el poder y la agencia que conllevan elaboraciones teóricas de larga data dentro de ese campo (Bordo, 2001). En sintonía, mi propuesta no debe entenderse únicamente como un gesto político sino también como una operación con valor teórico en tanto este des-oimiento del campo del feminismo se traduce en las limitaciones que encuentro en los análisis de los estudios sobre homosexualidades en Argentina. En el desarrollo del artículo, expongo brevemente dicho consenso a partir de una reconstrucción de otros tres argumentos solidarios que aparecen con frecuencia en dichos estudios. A continuación, recupero la perspectiva de las antropólogas feministas que analizan el modo en que la distinción entre lo público y lo privado traduce las relaciones desiguales entre los sujetos generizados. En ese mismo apartado, expongo algunas consideraciones sobre el poder y la agencia que encuentro sugerentes para analizar la experiencia homosexual en Argentina.

samenvatting: Gay studies are a young research field in international historiography. Over the past few years, after a period of relative silence, historical studies on homosexuality have begun to develop also in Italy. The aim of this article is to review recent research in Italian early modern homosexuality, comparing contexts and considering methodological issues. The paper highlights the lack of gender-oriented works in a historiography which has mostly been dominated by sexual crimes analysis. In addition, it discusses some of the potential ways in which the cultural history approach might be applied in LGBT research.

Wenn historische Architektenpersönlichkeiten außerhalb der heterosexuellen Norm gelebt haben, wird ihr Privatleben gern in mysteriöses Dunkel getaucht. Solange Strafgesetze Bestand hatten, war die soziale Existenz konstant gefährdet und das Versteckspiel war eine Notwendigkeit. Zur Absicherung bedurfte es defensiver Strategien. Um diese Außenseiter der Vergangenheit aufzuspüren, müssen die historischen Quellen queer gelesen werden. Homosexuality still is a taboo subject in architectural history. When historical architectural personalities have lived outside the heterosexual norm, their private lives are readily shrouded in mysterious obscurity. As long as penal laws endured, social existence was constantly threatened and hiding was a necessity. Defensive strategies were needed to protect themselves. To track down these outsiders of the past, historical sources must be read queerly.

samenvatting: Marcel Proust était écrivain et homosexuel à une époque où la réprobation officielle était plus forte qu'aujourd'hui. Il savait donc qu'en s'affichant, il pouvait compromettre sa réputation mondaine mais aussi l'espérance d'être publié, d'autant plus qu'il avait placé, au centre de son oeuvre, le « vice honteux ». Pour ne pas compromettre son statut social et son métier d'écrivain, il lui fallait donc une parade, en l'occurrence se déguiser en hétérosexuel, mais en un hétérosexuel spécialiste de l'inversion. Son oeuvre serait alors une étude devant beaucoup à sa propre vie. Le héros Marcel est certes un hétérosexuel irréprochable mais il est confronté à l'homosexualité de son ami Charlus et de sa maîtresse bisexuelle Albertine. La présente recherche nous conduit dans le labyrinthe des vérités et contrevérités des aléas de la condition homosexuelle dans la vie de Marcel Proust mais aussi dans son oeuvre monumentale. La première partie est une biographie, fondée sur la recherche de l'homosexualité dans la vie de Proust. La deuxième est consacrée aux passages traitant d'homosexualité dans l'oeuvre, principalement À la recherche du temps perdu. Cette « anthologie » met en évidence le fait qu'au centre de la grande oeuvre court un véritable « roman » de l'homosexualité. La troisième partie est consacrée à la mise en parallèle des deux premières, elle nous propose analyses et conclusions. Laissant une large place à la citation, ce travail se situe au confluent de l'histoire de la littérature et de l'histoire de l'homosexualité ; tout en répondant aux exigences scientifiques, il s'adresse aussi au grand public, tant proustien que « gay ».

Boys who protested walked the plank, and in our own times, as the reader will see, boys are also done away with, one of whom was recently stomped to death with such violence that his family recognized him only by a tattoo. Whereas Magellan garroted a man too frisky with cabin boys, today?s homophobic murderers may be sentenced to life by a naval court, but the sentences come up for review yearly, meaning they can be freed at any time. A sailor on the USS Belleau Wood signed his death warrant by sending out a message to other ships, ??2-Q-T-2-B-S-T-R-8?? (too cute to be straight), while on the other end of the spectrum a Navy SEAL married his lover, and it is no longer unheard of for a debarking officer to be met on shore with an intimate kiss from his male mate. Real Marines star in gay porn flicks and two of Hollywood?s vintage actors, Hudson and Hunter, had been real-life sailors. A sublime opera, the homoerotic Billy Budd, was created by Benjamin Britten, the wide-screen version produced by Peter Ustinov and starred Terence Stamp. Genet gained immortality through his book Querrel de Brest, as did the film version?s homosexual hero Brad Davis, in Fassbinder?s final opus before his overdose.
